A high quality, private and spacious farmhouse enclosed within a walled garden. It has been designed with families or couples in mind and has recently been fully renovated. Built from buttery Charente stone with shutters painted in traditional maritime blue, the house is southerly facing and you need only open the shutters to flood the house with light. Inside, Charentaise stone, white-washed walls and exposed wooden beams throughout create a feeling of stylish simplicity. Interior furnishings are eclectic and elegant and it is fully equipped with everything you might need.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a beautiful home! Everything we needed was right here - we could have stayed so much longer! Our 3 year old (and us) really did not want to leave!. We enjoyed exploring the area - thank you for your recommendations and tips. Hope to visit again - thank you for sharing your home with us! (September 2019)

We had a fabulous stay at this property! Furnished to a high specification, made for a comfortable stay and we could easily have stayed for longer. Wifi coverage good which was important for our teenage children! Fully equipped kitchen and UK satellite television if you needed it. Plenty of space and with all of the facilities you need to make your stay stress free and without any hassle. An excellent games room with pool table and an array of bikes to cycle the very quiet lanes in the vicinity. Very peaceful location but never far from the village for your essentials such as the bakery, pharmacy and butcher etc. The local bistro St.Pierre has very friendly locals who will talk to you and are full of good advice should you need it. A relaxed pace of life in a very nice location. However please do not take my word for it and try it for yourself. I would highly recommend a stay at this traditional style farmhouse. Communication with Rachel, the owner, was first class who replied to my many questions posed in advance of our stay very quickly and with a host of information to help us. (August 2019)

Wonderful spacious, charming house with everything which we could have wished for provided, from bicycles and a well equipped games room, to quality kitchenware and a thoughtful welcome pack awaiting our arrival (the chilled rosé was particularly appreciated!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt as if we were staying in a friend's well-appointed, elegant home, rather than in an anonymous holiday let. Would have no hesitation in recommending l'Échapée Douce for anyone looking for a perfect blend of rural tranquillity, elegant surroundings, with plenty of day trip opportunities (including the beaches). The house was beautifully presented, immaculate and very well equipped throughout. There were some nice personal touches such as wine & food left for us on arrival by Maria & Tony the housekeepers. They didn't disturb us but were at the other end of the phone should any issues arise. The weather was fantastic so we didn't avail of the great games room but instead dined outside in the lovely walled garden and played rounders in the field out the back, the parking in the field was also a big plus. The house was located right beside vineyards & sunflowers & was idyllic with lovely walks. Nére is a very short drive away with it's lovely boulangerie and it was a great base for travelling. Poitiers, Cognac, íle de Ré, Bordeaux, Niort, Saintes & La Rochelle are all within driving distance. This property comes highly recommended. (July 2019)

What a beautiful, well-decorated, meticulously clean home in a beautiful rural setting. Our children loved flying kites in the meadow and playing pool. We enjoyed cooking in the well-appointed kitchen and spending peaceful time together. Thank you (April 2019)

We feel completely recharged after our holiday - lots of nice, long walks in the countryside and plenty of fresh air. It was great to be able to eat dinner in the lovely walled garden and we also appreciated having the bar in the village for when we didn't want to cook. Plenty of places to visit when we fancied a trip out too, so everyone was happy. (June 2018)

I started to relax the moment we drove up the lane to the house! This was a fabulous holiday - the children had loads of space outdoors to run around and we enjoyed exploring the local countryside on foot and on bikes. The house is incredibly well equipped which made the whole experience a pleasure. We'll be back! (August 2018)
